katmarajade: (no sense)
Is there any way to schedule posts or post-date them so they show up in the feed at a later date? I see the edit date option, but it seems (from my limited testing here) that even post-dated entries appear on reading pages according to when they're actually posted, not according to the date/time you manually enter.

We are trying to use DW for Interhouse Fest, but dang! They don't make it easy! There are obviously some awesome aspects (hello super simple posting for really long fics!) but I really miss the ease of scheduling a week's worth of entries at a time, which LJ allows. Is there a way to do this that I'm missing? Or is it just not an option on DW?

Any other mod tips/tricks for managing fests/posting on multiple platforms would also be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for your help! And check out Interhouse Fest, which started posting today! (Opening with an awesome rare pair-- Colin/Astoria! Bet you've never read them together before, so better check it out!)

After lots of scrambling, cursing, screwing up, gnashing of teeth, babies kicking laptop screens, toddlers accidentally deleting huge blocks of text, desperate reading of Dreamwidth "how to's", and did I mention the swearing?, [community profile] interhouse_fest is now officially operating on Dreamwidth! \o/

So please stop by and check it out, and please please please tell your friends! I have very few people in my circle on Dreamwidth so far and absolutely no communities, so please point people our way! The critical information posts are now available to read on DW, so you should be able to participate even if you're avoiding LJ these days! *tempts*

Also, if you know of any mutual friends from LJ with different names on DW, could you point me in the right direction? And if there are any amazing communities or fests or whatever that I should be following. I'd love to expand my circle and start operating more fully on this platform.

Maybe I should actually upload another icon, too! Ha! Until then, nose in book girl for every post ever!

But priorities-- it's bedtime! Yes, I know that it's only 8:40. And? :-P

Testing testing! Hello, lovelies! It looks like maybe I'll be trying out this Dreamwidth crossposting thing (if all goes according to plan) and seeing my DW only friends! Just trying to figure it out.

Please be patient and subscribe/grant access/tell me your usernames if they're different at DW than at LJ so I can keep in touch better! <3

Hi! Welcome to my journal. This account is mainly for commenting, but it also has an archive of all my fan fiction (Harry Potter and Star Trek), all available publicly here and on Livejournal. I don't archive my personal journal here, but feel free to find me over at LJ, where I am also Katmarajade.

Title: There's Something About ...
Author: [personal profile] katmarajade
Rating: PG
Pairing(s): Hannah Abbott/Pansy Parkinson
Summary: When Hannah first made the promise, she had no idea it would entail masquerading as her own brother, helping to save a fundraiser from disaster, and falling in love with a rather prickly princess who thought Hannah was someone else.
Warnings: cross dressing, slight AU (Hannah has a twin brother)
Word Count: 3700
Author's Notes: This was written for [personal profile] capeofstorm at this year's [community profile] femmefest. My first full-length foray into femme ended up being a lot of fun, a little bit crazy, and a whole lot of wacky, silly, situational comedy. So right up my alley! Inspired by prompts of cross dressing and secrets. Plot loosely based on Shakespeare's Twelfth Night. Many thanks to [personal profile] aigoos, [personal profile] songquake, & [personal profile] tree00faery, my fabulous betas. All remaining errors are my own.

Our story begins, as most stories do, with a misunderstanding. In this case, quite a lot of misunderstandings with a few wild misconceptions tossed in for good measure. )

Title: That All Too Familiar Smile
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 1100
Pairing(s): Lee Jordan/Lily Luna Potter
Warnings: cross gen (47/18), a very foul-mouthed Lee, a lot of innuendo
Disclaimer: All Harry Potter characters herein are the property of J.K. Rowling and Bloomsbury/Scholastic. No copyright infringement is intended.
Summary: Nightclub owner Lee Jordan thought he was over the young, fresh-faced, straight-out-of-Hogwarts type, but when she walks in he can't help himself. There's something all too familiar about her ...
Author's Notes: Written for [community profile] hp_nextgen_fest. Many thanks to my brilliant beta, [personal profile] aigoos!

So he's more than a little surprised to find himself watching the new girl. There's just something about her ... something familiar )

Title: Kissing Seamus
Author: [livejournal.com profile] katmarajade
Written for: [livejournal.com profile] besamislabios
Pairing: Dean/Seamus
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 695
Prompt: tinsel
Summary: After a long day at work, Dean comes home to find Seamus has taken decking the halls to a whole new level.
Notes: I saved this one for last, because it's Dean/Seamus (one of my dearest pairings), has lots of kissing, and is full of Christmas joy. Merry Christmas, lovely [livejournal.com profile] besamislabios!

Dean stared at their sitting room in shock. When he'd left for work that morning, there had been nothing but their threadbare green sofa and a few empty beer cans. )

This officially concludes the holiday drabbly bits of 2011. I hope you enjoyed them. Until next year, darlings!

Title: An Act of Rebellion: Eight Nights of Hope
Author: [livejournal.com profile] katmarajade
Written for: [livejournal.com profile] tree00faery
Characters: Anthony Goldstein and a cast of fellow Ravenclaws
Rating: PG
Word Count: 909
Prompt: someone trying to sneak Hanukkah candles past the Carrows during DH.
Summary: During the Carrows' reign of terror, Anthony decides to bring his House together in a surprising way.
Notes: In 1997 the first night of Hanukkah actually fell on Christmas Eve, so I took the liberty of using the 1996 dates so that the festival fell during a time in which all these kids would still be at Hogwarts to celebrate it. And I went with the "Hanukkah" spelling, though I recognize there are several legitimate transliterations.

It's not about Hanukkah, but it is, in a way, about faith. It's about hope. It's about needing something to believe in when the world gets dark and you find yourself losing your way. It's about light and miracles. It's a timely message.  )

Title: Someone To Help Ring In the New Year
Author: [livejournal.com profile] katmarajade
Written for: [livejournal.com profile] bendleshnitz1
Pairing: Percy/Lavender
Rating: R (Perhaps PG-13, but Lavender somehow makes everything seem sexier than hell)
Word Count: 974
Prompt: Bless you for prompting this awesome pairing, bb! Too much fun.
Summary: Lavender Brown knows what she wants. She knows how to read the cards. She's going to find him tonight.

It wasn't like she was expecting Prince William or anything, but she had standards. He needed to be tall, handsome, and brilliant. Most importantly though, he needed to think she was the most incredible woman ever to grace the planet. That wasn't so much to ask, was it? )
katmarajade: Woman drinking coffee with words "wake up" over her face (xmas chris pine)
Title: Dr. McCoy and the Red Shirt of Doom
Author: [livejournal.com profile] katmarajade
Written for: [livejournal.com profile] secretsolitaire
Characters: McCoy, Sulu, and a red shirt named Berken
Rating: PG
Word Count: 1000
Summary: There's a transporter glitch when beaming down to the planet and the uniform shirts get switched around. McCoy is NOT okay with it. Total unapologetic crack!fic.
Notes: Lovely [livejournal.com profile] secretsolitaire, you are so great about reading and commenting on my stuff and I appreciate it so much. Your holiday drabble came in decidedly drabbly at less than 300 words. I tried to expand it, but I found I really liked it just how it was. So to make up for that, because you're so awesome and deserve much for being so supportive, this one's for you! You get BONUS McCOY-CENTRIC CRACK!FIC! that has absolutely nothing to do with what you prompted or anything else

It was Thursday. McCoy had never gotten the hang of Thursdays. )
katmarajade: Woman drinking coffee with words "wake up" over her face (xmas chris pine)
Title: Sheets of a Different Color
Author: [livejournal.com profile] katmarajade
Written for: [livejournal.com profile] secretsolitaire
Pairing: Sulu/McCoy
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: ~300
Prompt: trying something new in bed
Summary: Sulu and McCoy pick out sheets for their new shared quarters.
Notes: This is not at ALL what you meant with that prompt, but this is what my mind came up with.

'What about green?' Sulu asked, ignoring the frustrated glare on McCoy's face. )
katmarajade: Woman drinking coffee with words "wake up" over her face (xmas present)
Title: Holding On To Tradition
Author: [livejournal.com profile] katmarajade
Written for: [livejournal.com profile] eloquent_toast
Pairing: George/Luna
Rating: PG
Word Count: 1082
Prompt: George being too devastated to go to boxing day or something and Luna just appearing at his flat above WWW and comforting him in her quietly eccentric but empathetic way.
Summary: It's not Christmas but Boxing Day that hits him hardest.
Notes: I've taken a few possible liberties with Boxing Day and May Day traditions …

It's Boxing Day. It's Boxing Day and George is not at the Burrow. )
katmarajade: Woman drinking coffee with words "wake up" over her face (xmas present)
Title: A New Tradition: A Tale of Two Families
Author: [livejournal.com profile] katmarajade
Written for: [livejournal.com profile] songquake
Pairing: Dudley/Draco
Rating: PG
Word Count: 1214
Prompt: family tradition
Summary: Dudley and Draco visit their families for the holidays. It's hard to say which dinner is more awkward. Perhaps it's time for a new tradition.
Notes: I had such fun with these two. And the parents—hoo boy! :-D Thanks for such a fun prompt. It was great to get a chance to write Dudley again, having had to pass on Dudley Redeemed this round. I hope you enjoy it.

When Draco Malfoy met Dudley Dursley, he never imagined that the two of them would become friends, much less anything else.  )
katmarajade: Woman drinking coffee with words "wake up" over her face (xmas present)
Title: Grown Up Miss Chang
Author: [livejournal.com profile] katmarajade
Written for: [livejournal.com profile] shygryf
Pairing: Oliver/Cho
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 444
Prompt: wintergreen
Summary: Oliver showed up to the league-wide, multi-team, pre-season boot camp with low expectations. Then he saw her.

'You've grown up, Miss Chang,' he teased. )
katmarajade: Woman drinking coffee with words "wake up" over her face (xmas snowflake)
Title: To Bring Home the Light
Author: [livejournal.com profile] katmarajade
Written for: [livejournal.com profile] rubynye
Pairing: Sulu/Chekov/Gaila
Rating: R
Word Count: 567
Prompt: naked, happy, together
Summary: Hikaru's his light. Gaila's his warmth. It's Pavel's job to make sure they come home.
Notes: Only for you, bb, would I try my hand at a threesome. *blows kisses* It's a touch angsty to start, but it's happy, I swear!

The light after a period of darkness always seems brightest. It's relative, of course. But that's how it is for Pavel every time they go away. )
katmarajade: Woman drinking coffee with words "wake up" over her face (xmas snowflake)
Title: Evergreen Entrapment
Author: [livejournal.com profile] katmarajade
Written for: [livejournal.com profile] coffee_n_cocoa
Pairing: Neville/Ginny
Rating: R
Word Count: 589
Prompt: evergreen wreaths
Summary: Ginny truly thought she was helping, using a few charms to expedite the process, get the orders finished, and possibly get her husband home early for Christmas Eve. Unfortunately, the magical fir trees did not take kindly to charms, no matter how well-intentioned.

That was how Neville and Ginny Longbottom found themselves stranded inside their own greenhouse, surrounded by a thick, unyielding (though nice-smelling) wall of evergreen on Christmas Eve. )
