For fests I only deal with DW now. I respect that you are trying to get the site up asap but kind of bummed that the lj side is up and running and claimable. So in theory, those who prefer to use dw for a variety of reasons could use out?

I wouldn't open up a fest until all platforms were ready on equal footing. I love this fest and have loved taking part in this past but I feel bad. For those only on dw who are not your friend they have nothing. As I am your friend I can see the link to claim. But LJ was still ahead. >___<.

I mean I'll go have a look but I don't want to go to another site to look at the rules and such. And if I don't know that then I don't want to join?

I definitely see and understand where you're coming from. The fest has only ever run on LJ. There are accounts for twitter and tumblr to advertise and post reminders, but the fest itself has only been on LJ. Up until this past year with the fucked up TOS issues on LJ, it had never really been an issue, but I do realize that a lot of people have migrated away and I totally get why!

Unfortunately, your friendly mods are human and scrambling to get by and not as amazing as mods ought to be. I'm a total disaster these days with a 6 month old who doesn't sleep and postpartum depression, and I have definitely not been on top of things. We are trying to get the DW account up and running, but we don't currently have access, as it was creating by the previous mods and we're still in the process of getting ownership transferred so we can even post to the comm. The previous mods are super swamped in real life, which was why they relinguished running the fest in the first place. And opening up another comm with a different but similar name seems ill-advised and confusing for people searching for it. It was never really used, has only like 5 followers, almost none of whom are currently active in fandom, and no public entries, so it wasn't really like it would have generated a ton of publicity had we been posting there anyway.

So it was sort of now or never, as we don't want to compete with the winter holiday fests. We're looking into hosting on other platforms for future rounds, but this year it will remain on LJ. We hope to get DW up and running either as our main host or a mirrored community by next year. But I doubt that's in the cards this year. Even if we get the DW up and running, which I'm really, really hoping and trying to accomplish, it will most likely be mostly to advertiseI hope you're willing to come back and join us again when we do get it all sorted out. DW is still new to me, so I know that I'm not being the best mod I could be. But I'm a total disaster in real life, so I am just going to focus on the fact that I'm managing to get any of it accomplished. :-/ It's not a good excuse, that I do realize, but it's the reason it is the way it is this year. I'm just happy it's running at all, honestly. And I can't let myself feel too guilty about it or I'll fall apart, which wouldn't help anything anyway.

Basically, you're not wrong but unfortunately, that's all we have to offer right now. I hope that changes in the future! I really, really do. Because I know that we're losing a lot of amazing potential participants this year by remaining exclusively on LJ.
